Why is it that so many people are feeling stuck? It could be we’re too caught up re-living the past or planning the future to appreciate what the present moment has to offer. We could be carrying unwanted thoughts & conditioning that no longer suit us. When we’re too busy living in the negative thinking of “I’m not good enough” or “life is too hard” we’re sending messages out into the Universe that we’re not ready & open for amazing miracles & opportunities.
My favourite way to move forward & create new beginnings? A cleansing ritual!
First, burn Sage. Burning Sage is one of the oldest rituals for cleansing. The burning of herbs is said to get rid of any negative energy, helping to heal the mind, body & spirit. While the smell can be very strong, many people find the aromas quite soothing. Before lighting Sage, it’s important that the intention for new beginnings remains present in our mind. When ready to burn, place the bundle of Sage into a heavy pot & let the flame linger for a few seconds before blowing it out & then allow the smoke to flow freely & begin to purify the space.
Then, write a list of ways you feel you haven’t met your own expectations, or had negative thought patterns, & then release it. Throw the list away or burn it & affirm what it is you want. This is an offering to the Universe — we’re releasing what no longer serves us & creating space for what we do want.
Next, sit quietly & visualise. Visualisation is a very powerful cleansing tool if practiced properly. Choose the Crystal energy you want to help you through this process. The two Crystals I use are Rose Quartz & Rhodonite. Rose Quartz helps to remove energy blocks in the Heart Chakra that keep us from truly loving ourselves, & nurturing our sense of self love. An often unrecognised aspect of love is patience. Rhodonite is especially good for any situation that threatens our patience, helpful for day to day annoyances that we often feel. Take your chosen Crystals & find a quiet please, sit cross-legged, palms facing down on the thighs & eyes closed. Begin by imagining a time that you felt low self-worth or a situation where you would like to go back & do it differently because you didn’t show up as your best self. Hold that vision & imagine how you would’ve liked that situation to play out. Perhaps you’re a little kinder, more patient or confident. As you begin to rewrite the story, use the sense of calm & openness to visualise a new beginning. It could look like more stress-free interactions at work or what it would feel like not to worry about money. Really embody what this would feel like mentally, emotionally & even physically in your body. When you feel more of a positive shift, gently come back to the breath & open your eyes. Practice this cleansing meditation often, especially if you’re feeling fearful of change. New Year, a new beginning, make it the best one yet!
