Crystallis

Crystallis

25th November, 2007

I've been doing little with the site recently mainly due to the fact that I've been rewriting the Excel-based code for my newspaper man.  This version is pretty sturdy and I shall be putting it out for public distribution once we've tested and refined it.

As for the site; I'm currently waiting for a Sports RSS feed from the BBC to be approved as I wasn't sure whether you folks would particularly want to see who was winning the latest baseball games in the US! The Yahoo feeds are excellent but I suspect that most visitors here are from the UK.

Aside from all that I'm looking forward to only 2 days at (paid) work this week and aim to visit my favourite second-hand bookshop run by the British Heart Foundation as well as finishing off the programming.

It's been a few days with long evenings redisgning the website but, at last, Crystallis is bigger and brighter and easier to navigate.  Extra pages for the funnies and the links have been added.  Some of these continue to be under construction but they should be up in the next day or so.

I have my folks in Guernsey and my mate Annie to thank for all the funnies.  Annie hasn't been too well for a while but she sends me heaps of jokes and pictures to make me smile.  Thanks Annie; here's wishing you improving health on a big scale!

Everything here is brighter and bubblier and I'm going to snaffle my step-mum's recipe for cooking salmon and add it to the site shortly.  Salmon's not the cheapest of fish but, if any of you Uni students are feeling like splurging this is the one that I'd recommend.  besides, think of all those Omega 3's, 6's and 9's that will increase your brain power!

If you're reading this then you're visiting the site so enjoy and, if you have a mind to, let me know how it looks.

I'd been thinking about the colours at Crystallis and often found them quite drab.  Hopefully you'll all like the new colour scheme; do let me know.  I suspect that this won't be the final layout as I'd like to do something a little more dynamic with the menus but that'll come in time.

At work I've been trying to get to grips with some tricky SQL and finally got some useful help to solve the problem.  If anyone out there knows of any good (and cheap!) SQL editors then I'd appreciate the feedback.

In the meantime it's time to get back to the redesign of the site...
